Typography

WP 6.5 adds the Font Library. Soon to be updated.

Let’s select our typography settings.

* For optimization purposes, I recommend not using more than 2 fonts on a site.

To set your typography settings, visit Appearance > Editor > Styles to access the style editor. On the right side of the page, you’ll see the Styles panel. Click on Typography, then click Text.

Here, you will select the base font. All other elements will default to this font if another is not specified.

Also, set the size and appearance (weight) for text across the site.

Click the < to the left of Text at the top of the Style Panel to go back. Now, if you want to change the typography settings for other elements, you can do so here.

  • Text – (covered above).
  • Links – I suggest leaving as default.
  • Headings – it is common to select a different font for headings than text so feel free to so. Headings also provide options each heading level as well as letter case.
  • Captions – not always used and can be left as default.
  • Buttons – can be left default or use the selected heading font.

Pro Tip: There are some random fonts added already but any Google font can be added. Just ask the developer to add it in for you.
